Today’s coffee is roasted by Colonna.
On holidays in Sri Lanka, one of the books I took to read was Monk of Mokha by the legendary Dave Eggars. It’s an incredible story about Mokhtar Alkhanshali and his adventure to put Yemeni coffee back on the map. Shortly thereafter I started the search for my first Yemeni coffee. That is when I discovered Colonna and their well-timed first rare coffee release which happened to be from Yemen. The coffee is for sure not riddled with flavour, but it has this smoothness and dry earthy depth to it unlike any I’ve tried. I hold this one close to my heart given the story behind it’s discovery, hence I still have it in the freezer and not yet finished and cut/pasted into the little red book. Recently I discovered that Square Mile is also releasing this Bait Alal Yemenia, so that one is currently en-route and I will write it up once it arrives.
